Time To Volunteer

ACTS is the ONLY one-to-one, faith based tutoring and mentoring program in Springfield. There is always a great need for caring adults. For each student to be enrolled, an adult needs to volunteer. Everyone needs to give back something, and giving friendship and academic help to an elementary student in Springfield makes a very big difference in that student’s life. Volunteers range from high school students to senior citizens. No experience is necessary. There is always a great need…

What Is Required Of Me?

The main requirement is that you are willing to be a caring adult in the life of a child who needs tutoring.  Expect to spend an average of two hours per week with your student during the school year. Some of the qualities of our volunteers have include patience and the ability to communicate effectively with children.

You will be very surprised how well your education and life experiences have prepared you for this labor of love.   You will never be alone.  A Site Director, who is a professional, will be on hand to guide you and provide training. That person will also help match you with an appropriate student who you will work with each week based on your level of skills. You are well suited, just let God lead.

In addition to your Site Director, you will have fellowship and counsel from other tutors just like yourself.   Experienced tutors can help guide you each step of the way. In Addition, during Club Time you will be working with the whole group of tutors and students at the site.   Club Time involves Bible lessons and character development that is explored in a creative, interactive way.

● Enjoy working with children. ● Be faithful to attend the site on a regular basis. ● Make a minimum of a one year commitment; more years would be desirable. ● Be willing to take instruction from the Site Director. ● Be willing to support the mission of ACTS.

● Establish a relationship with a child in need. ● Help a student in an area of academic weakness ● Build a friendship by meeting some of the real needs of a child. ● Communicate your love to the child. ● Attend training sessions as required. ● Work cooperatively under the direction.
